In the last number of weeks there have been a number of enquiries concerning the age limit for applying for a Working Holiday visa (WHV). So, let us clarify this for you a bit.
The current age limit for applying for a WHV is between 18 and 30 years (inclusive; for limited countries the age limit is 35). This means that:
as soon as you turn 18 years of age, you can apply for a WHV; and
when you are 30 / 35 years and 364 days old, you can still apply for a WHV; however
as soon as you turn 31 / 36 years of age, you will NOT be eligible to apply for a WHV anymore.
What may be confusing is that after you have applied for a WHV, you have 12 months from the date you were granted the visa to enter Australia. This means that, for example, when you apply for and are granted a WHV just before turning 31 / 36, you can enter Australia on a WHV when you are 31 / 36 years old.
Second and Third Working Holiday Visa
Same principles apply to a second and third year WHV. For example, if you enter the country when you are 30 / 35 years of age and complete the specified regional work immediately and then apply for a 2nd WHV, you may be 31 / 36 years of age at the time when the second or third year WHV commences.
